Soka Gakkai Donates Books to Library in Mongolian City
On April 26, 2007, a Soka Gakkai delegation, led by Eiji Ouchi, visited the central library in Zuunkharaa City, Mandal County, Selenge Province in Mongolia to make a presentation of various Mongolian books. The delegation also presented the library with copies of Mongolian translations of The Great Prairie and the White Horse, a children's book, and Seikatsu no hanataba (Bouquet for Daily Life), a collection of essays, both by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda. Library officials, the president of the Mongolian Literature and Social Welfare College and 50 young students from local schools attended the event.
Mr. Ouchi and his party also visited the Office of the President of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar and met with Chief of Staff Tudev Bilegt. Mr. Ouchi conveyed a message from Mr. Ikeda to Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar whom he had met when the latter was in Tokyo in February earlier this year on a state visit. Mr. Bilegt, who accompanied President Enkhbayar to Japan, stated his hope that Mr. Ikeda would someday visit Mongolia, and expressed his confidence that Mongolian-Japanese relations would continue to develop.
