SGI-UK Hosts Third Children's Model United Nations General Assembly at Taplow Court, UK

Secondary school students discuss urgent human issues at simulated UN general assembly

On July 13, the SGI-UK Taplow Court Grand Culture Center in Berkshire, UK, hosted its third Children's Model United Nations General Assembly. Some 120 students from 12 junior high schools in Slough City participated. Participants broke into groups of three, with each group representing a country, and discussed critical human issues such as counteracting terror, providing adequate drinking water to all people, and nuclear power. The simulated UN general assembly enabled young people to express their thoughts and ideas and encouraged many to think more deeply about the world events that shape their society. Some expressed their resolve to discover ways in which they can contribute to peace.
