Taiwan Ministry of Education Commends SGI-Taiwan for Sixth Time

The Taiwan Ministry of Education selected SGI-Taiwan as one of 32 organizations and individuals to receive its Excellent Community and Education Organization Awards. This prestigious honor is given annually to selected social, educational, cultural and religious organizations in Taiwan for outstanding contributions to advancing social education. This was SGI-Taiwan's sixth time to be honored with the award. Vice Education Minister Dr. Lu Mu-lin presented the certificate to SGI-Taiwan Vice General Director Huang Chen Chia on November 11 at a conferral at the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. Dr. Lu praised all the recipients for their contributions to lifetime education in Taiwan. SGI-Taiwan was specifically recognized for contributing to social beneficence through its religious, cultural and educational activities that promote the public good. The Taiwan organization was also praised for its publication of books on Buddhism and education, as well as for advancing education of youth and women, which contribute to a spiritual renaissance and the building of a peaceful society.
