Soka Gakkai Educators in Hokkaido Exchange Reports on Applying Humanistic Education

On September 18, Soka Gakkai educators of Hokkaido gathered for the 19th Hokkaido "Rally on Practical Application of Humanistic Education" at the Iwamizawa Community Center in Iwamizawa City, to report on their efforts to practice humanistic education in the classroom. Some 1,200 educators and guests attended. In a message, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda stated that efforts for fostering and cultivating human beings are the noblest endeavors. Society will develop when the children can find joy of living and learning.

An educators' group member introduced reports from schools in Brazil and several other countries that implement Soka's value-creating education at their schools. Three representatives--Hiroko Suda (preschool teacher), Kaori Segawa (elementary school teacher) and Shogo Arato (high school teacher)--shared their accounts of applying humanistic education in their classrooms.
