[The Soka Gakkai Education Department currently runs 32 Educational Counseling Centers throughout Japan, staffed by more than 800 trained volunteer counselors. Several hundred thousand have received counseling since the establishment of the first center in 1968. By extending services to late in the evening, the centers have enabled many more fathers to attend with mothers after work. In addition to an annual national forum for humanistic education, the Education Department sponsors public lectures and seminars on education.]
