Bolivian Cities Recognize SGI-Bolivia Youth's Social Activism

On February 26, SGI-Bolivia and Montero City Culture Department cohosted a youth seminar at the SGI-Bolivia Culture Center in Montero. Some 80 young people, including local senior and junior high school students, participated in the event, where they studied Discussions on Youth, a book by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda providing encouragement and advice to young people concerning family, friendship, love, dreams and goals, and self-confidence. On February 27, SGI-Bolivia youth held a tree-planting and clean-up at an elementary school in Montero. Since March 2003, SGI-Bolivia youth have continuously engaged in environmental preservation and city beautification activities in their respective locales. Their efforts have earned the trust of local communities and governments throughout Bolivia. On February 27, SGI-Bolivia youth also participated in tree-planting and environmental clean-up activities in Montero Hoyos Town, Santa Cruz City and Pailon City.

Montero and Montero Hoyos commended SGI-Bolivia in recognition of SGI-Bolivia youth's contributions to society. The cities also commended Mr. Ikeda for his leadership in the education of young people. Pailon City presented Mr. Ikeda with a certificate of appreciation for his peace efforts based on an educational philosophy of humanism and for his contributions to fostering youth in Pailon. The three conferrals took place on February 27, respectively.
