On March 1, at the invitation of the Min-On Concert Association, the Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe of China premiered at Sagami-Ono Green Hall in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Titled "Sky Mirage," the 52-member show included drum juggling, pole climbing, unicycle dancing and other such acrobatic feats.

The troupe has won awards at international acrobatics festivals such as the Festival Mondial du Cirque de l'Avenir in Paris and is currently carrying out a 41-city tour of Japan which will run until the end of May, sponsored by Min-On together with many other supporting groups including tv asahi and the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo. In early May, a number of performers from the troupe will also be giving charity performances in areas affected by the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami.

The tour marks the 35th anniversary of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Japan and the People's Republic of China (1978) as well as the 50th anniversary of Min-On's founding, and it comes at a time when relations between the two countries are at a low ebb. "It is my fervent hope that our tour will serve to enhance the cultural exchange between China and Japan and deepen the mutual understanding and trust of the people of our two countries," said Ma Xiaoming, tour leader of the Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe, at a reception following a performance in Tokyo.

Min-On, which in Japanese literally means "the people's music," was founded by SGI President Ikeda in 1963 to promote international cultural exchange and peace through music and performing arts from around the world.
