From February 25-26, SGI-Argentina held a Youth Peace Culture festival in Buenos Aires and another in Neuquén. In total, 7,000 people, from all over Argentina, attended the festivals. The culture festivals were titled "Flag-bearers of the Future" and included a variety of performances such as dances and a chorus of 100 people.

In his message to festival participants, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda stressed the importance and power of taking even a single step toward making world peace a reality. He encouraged everyone to treasure and encourage each individual and to engage in Buddhist study so that they will be better able to support others and contribute to society.

Dr. Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, 1980 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, attended the festival in Buenos Aires and expressed his highest respect to Mr. Ikeda's efforts to nurture and support youth in his role as SGI president. Peace, he said, is something that must be created through the efforts of each individual, and he sees the youth of SGI as just such protagonists.
