On May 5, the Taiwan Soka Association (TSA), together with the Chen Cheng-Po Cultural Foundation and National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), organized an international symposium on the works of the Taiwanese painter Chen Cheng-Po (1895-1947), titled "The Bond of Nostalgia--Chen Cheng-Po & The Modern Art of Taiwan," at TSA's Zhi Shan Cultural Center in Taipei. Over 200 people, including an array of artists, attended the symposium where seven scholars from the United States, Japan, Korea and Taiwan discussed their research into the works of Chen Cheng-Po.

Notable guests included Chen Chung-Kuang, director of the Chen Cheng-Po Cultural Foundation; Wang Hsiu-Hsiung, honorary professor of NTNU; and Lee Cheng-Ming, dean of NTNU College of Arts. Participants discussed the value of strengthening the study of Taiwanese artists and art history as a contribution to the cultural development of Taiwan.

An exhibition titled "Under the Searing Sun--A Solo Exhibition by Chen Cheng-Po," organized by TSA in collaboration with the Chen Cheng-Po Cultural Foundation, was also shown at the Zhi Shan Cultural Center from April 8 to June 16.
