On March 31, a ceremony was held at the SGI-Panama Peace Auditorium in Panama City to award the winners in a photo contest with the theme "Flowers of Panama."

The contest, inspired by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's February 1987 poem dedicated to SGI-Panama members, aimed to promote appreciation for the beauty of Panamanian flowers and respect for the environment. The contest was held from February 1 to March 24, and some 88 people participated, with a total of 159 entries.

Prizes were handed out to three winners in each of two age categories: Junior (12-18 years old) and Senior (18 years and older). Three honorable mentions were also awarded.
