SGI-New Zealand Brass Band Performs at Community Friendship Concert
The 9th joint concert at the SGI-New Zealand Culture CentreSGI-New Zealand's Victorious March Brass Band appeared with the Manukau Concert Band for their 9th joint concert at the SGI-New Zealand Culture Centre in Auckland on June 26. More than 300 people attended. The Victorious March Brass Band performed several numbers, including Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World," and the Manukau Concert Band performed a piece titled "King Cotton" by John Philip Sousa.
The joint concerts first began in 2002 at the suggestion of the Manukau Concert Band, as a way to promote friendship in the community.
The Manukau Concert Band, a nonprofit group comprising some 40 musicians from a wide range of ages and cultural backgrounds living in and around the city of Manukau, is committed to enhancing music appreciation in the community.
