SGI-Brazil Youth Celebrate Brazil's Independence Day

SGI-Brazil's young men's Taiyo (Sun) Brass Band and young women's Nova Era (New Era) Fife-and-Drum Corps participated in Brazil's Independence Day celebrations throughout the country on September 7.

The Brass Band and the Fife-and-Drum Corps performed in 24 cities, including Bauru, Guarulhos, Londrina, Maringá, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. In total, some 2,400 SGI-Brazil youth took part in the Independence Day events, which were attended by 400,000 people.

2012will mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Brass Band in Brazil.
