The exhibition "Beyond the Horizon," a collection of photographs taken by the Hato-kai--a group of SGI men involved in maritime occupations--was shown at the biggest maritime event, Hanse Sail Rostock, in Rostock City, Germany, from August 8-14. The exhibition was sponsored by the Hanse Sail Rostock Executive Committee together with the Hato-kai. Germany is the 12th country to host the exhibition since its first showing in 1994.

Every year, about 1 million visitors attend the festival where some 200 sailing ships of many varieties are on display. This year's exhibition consisted of 80 photos taken during Hato-kai members' seafaring journeys and times at ports of call, as well as several photos taken by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda.

Rostock's mayor Roland Methling visited the exhibition, as well as Holger Bellgardt, head of the Hanse Sail Office, who remarked that the "Beyond the Horizon" exhibition has become a central event at the Hanse Sail festival.
