Russian Folk Ensemble Tours Taiwan
From May 29 to June 5, at the invitation of Taiwan Soka Association's (TSA) Chin Shuan Cultural and Educational Foundation, the Russian Folk Ensemble held six performances in the cities of Kaohsiung, Changhua and Taipei. The renowned Primorye dance troupe and Russian musical group, Ryabina, comprise the folk ensemble.
Performances included traditional Russian dances accompanied to music performed on folk instruments such as the bayan, a type of accordion, and the domra, a plucked stringed instrument of the lute family.
On June 3, the Russian Folk Ensemble, together with TSA representatives, visited Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Council for Cultural Affairs (CCA). Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yang Jing-Tian praised TSA for their longstanding efforts to promote international cultural exchanges.
