Singapore Soka Association Members Perform in National Day Parade

On August 9, 2010, members of the Singapore Soka Association (SSA) performed in the 2010 National Day Parade commemorating the 45th year of national independence. Some 27,000 spectators, including Singapore President S.R. Nathan, attended the festival held at Padang Park in downtown Singapore.

The 660 SSA women who performed in the parade depicted the ideals of democracy, peace, progress, equality and justice which are represented by five stars on Singapore's national flag. A segment titled "Diamond" symbolized the national ideal of equality and the valuable contribution of Singaporean women in society. Another segment, "Milky Way" demonstrated unity, strength and democracy.

In the finale, the women joined performers from the Singapore Armed Forces and Ministry of Education to create a flag formation, symbolizing this year's parade theme: "Live Our Dreams, Fly Our Flag."
