From August 23-29, 2010, a Soka Gakkai Japan-China Youth Friendship Delegation visited China, marking the 25th year of these exchanges between the two countries.

On August 24, the youth delegation met with Cao Weizhou, deputy secretary-general of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, and presented him with a message and Chinese poem on behalf of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda. Mr. Cao expressed his heartfelt appreciation for Mr. Ikeda's efforts to initiate  Japan-China cultural exchanges back in the 1960s.

The following day, August 25, the delegation visited Beijing City University where, together with the university's vice president, Ran Nan, they planted a cherry tree to commemorate Mr. and Mrs. Ikeda's continuous efforts to build friendship between Japan and China.

On August 27, representatives of the delegation attended the Daisaku and Kaneko Ikeda Research Symposium at Shaanxi Normal University in Shanghai Province. Other participants included the university's president, Dr. Fang Yu, Vice President Zhang Jianxiang,  Qu Yajun from the Women Culture Museum at Shaanxi Normal University, and Bai Genxing, president of the Daisaku and Kaneko Ikeda Research Center.

A cultural exchange also took place between the Japanese youth delegation members and the Chinese students from the university.
