Celebrating the 80th anniversary of Soka Gakkai's founding, a cultural festival was held in conjunction with an SGI General Meeting at the monthly Soka Gakkai Headquarters Leaders Meeting at the Soka University Memorial Auditorium in Hachioji, Tokyo, on November 3.

The festival included a video presentation of Soka Gakkai's 80-year movement for peace, culture and education and was accompanied by music and dance performances by Soka Gakkai youth performing groups, originally founded by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda.

In his message to those attending, Mr. Ikeda expressed his hope for young people to become protagonists for peace and for all SGI members to lead bright, victorious lives.

Some 250 leaders from 65 countries and territories who were in Japan for the 2010 SGI Autumn Training Session attended the festival.

On November 4, a training session was held with Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada at the Soka International Friendship Hall. A lecture by SGI Study Department Chief Katsuji Saito followed. Mr. Saito spoke about Nichiren's writing "On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land" and encouraged those in the audience to become citizens who, through dialogue, can contribute to creating peaceful communities.

On November 6, SGI members attended local Soka Gakkai cultural exchange meetings throughout Japan.
