"Beyond the Horizon," an exhibition of photographs taken by Hato-kai, a group of SGI members involved in maritime occupations, was displayed in Yamashita Park in Yokohama, Japan, from October 8-17. The show included 80 photographs of the ocean's natural beauty, bustling port scenes and rural life, as captured by seafarers on their voyages and at ports of call.

Morio Aoki, head of the Hato-kai Executive Committee, welcomed everyone at the official opening. Invited guest Yoshinari Okano, president of the National Institute for Sea Training, said that the photos conveyed the seamen's attentiveness to and deep love of the ocean. Also among the guests was Akikazu Fukunaga, president of the Tokyo Bay Licensed Pilots' Association.
