Soka Gakkai Thailand Commended for Cultural Contributions

On October 2, 2009, Soka Gakkai Thailand (SGT) was commended by the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Thailand for their longstanding contributions to cultural enhancement and the arts. SGT received a plaque and certificate at the ceremony which commemorated the 7th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Culture.

Permanent Secretary for Culture Vira Rojpojchanarat read the citation and Culture Minister Teera Slukpetch presented a plaque to SGT General Director Naravat Chinomi. Mr. Teera expressed his deepest appreciation to SGT members for their contributions to promoting and developing Thai culture.

The commendation was the second such award from the Ministry of Culture, the previous commendation having been conferred in October 2007. To date, SGT's achievements include such things as collaborating with the Thai Ministry of Culture to sponsor a recital of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's original musical compositions, and organizing national tours of "Dialogue with Nature," an exhibition of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's photographs.
