SGI-Brazil's Ikeda Symphony of Humanism Holds Concert in Araraquara


On August 15, 2009, SGI-Brazil's Ikeda Symphony of Humanism held a concert celebrating the 192nd anniversary of incorporation for the city of Araraquara at the Mayor Benedito de Oliveira amphitheatre in Araraquara, in southeast Brazil. The 75 symphony orchestra members performed 10 compositions, followed by an encore and a standing ovation from 1,200 audience members.

Orlando Mengatti, acting mayor of Araraquara, expressed his appreciation to SGI President Daisaku Ikeda for following a noble path of peace and humanism and for fostering youth.

During the event, the city of Araraquara presented the symphony orchestra with a plaque of appreciation for their contribution to culture and art that enriches the community.
