Yemeni Musician Performs at Min-On Culture Center

On April 6, 2009, Ahmad Fathi, renowned singer and oud player from the Republic of Yemen, gave a recital at the Min-On Culture Center in Shinanomachi, Tokyo. The oud is a pear-shaped, stringed instrument, commonly played in the Middle East and North Africa. Min-On Concert Association and the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen to Japan coorganized the event. Ambassadors to Japan and officials from ten Middle East and African countries and regions, including Yemeni Ambassador to Japan Marwan Noman, attended.
