On March 31, 2009, a Chinese youth delegation, led by All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) Deputy Secretary-General Ni Jian, received a warm welcome by Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada and Soka Gakkai youth representatives at the Seikyo Press building in Shinanomachi, Tokyo. ACYF is the largest youth organization in China, with 370 million members throughout China. The group visited Japan at the invitation of the Soka Gakkai youth, as part of an annual cultural and educational exchange between the Soka Gakkai and ACYF. The tradition was initiated during SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's sixth visit to China in 1984 and signed into agreement in 1985. Mr. Ikeda and Mrs. Kaneko Ikeda welcomed the delegation members on April 2, at the Soka University campus in Hachioji, Tokyo.

On March 18, a China-Japan Friendship Association (CJFA) delegation, led by CJFA Vice President Jin Dunquan, visited the Soka Gakkai Headquarters. Referring to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Jin expressed his hope for the development of friendships between the younger people of China and Japan. Mr. Harada spoke about the success of the "Great Romance of the Three Kingdoms" exhibition. Over one million visited the show at seven venues in Japan. Mr. Harada also spoke about his desire to promote Sino-Japanese friendship through cultural exchanges. CJFA Secretary General Yuan Mindao, Board Member Wang Zhanqi and Counselor of the Embassy of People's Republic of China to Japan Zhang Chengqing were among the delegation.
