From October 5-19, 2008, “World Music Selection: Viva Centro America!” concerts, featuring the world renowned bands “San Blas” from Panama and “Editus” from Costa Rica, were held throughout Taiwan. Chin-Shuan Cultural and Educational Foundation, established by Taiwan Soka Association (TSA) in 1988 to promote international cultural exchanges in Taiwan, sponsored the shows. The bands traveled to eleven venues in five cities--Taipei, Hsinchu, Yunlin, Yilan and Kaohsiung--and presented breath-taking performances of their distinctive Latin American music.

Many guests attended the concerts at each venue, including Panamanian Ambassador Julio Mock Cardenas, Yilan County Head Commissioner Lu Guo-Hwa, Yilan City Mayor Huang Ding-He, Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau (CAB) Director Lin Song, Hsinchu County CAB Director Tseng Huan-Peng, China Times President Lin Sheng-Fen and National Kaohsiung Normal University President Tai Chia-nan. They unanimously expressed appreciation to TSA for providing Taiwanese audiences the opportunity to enjoy such unique and high-quality performances.
