On September 20, 2008, members of SGI-Canada's Majestic Cedar District and Scarborough Chapter in Toronto, Canada, participated in a charity event in support of a local hospital. Invited to participate, SGI-Canada's contribution to the fundraiser included poetry reading and songs by members of the Majestic Cedar Singers. In addition to remarks from a representative of the hospital foundation and a local parliament member, the event also included classical Indian dance and contemporary dance and songs by performers of all ages.

All proceeds from the show went to the Scarborough General Hospital Foundation and will be used to renovate the hospital's aging emergency room. Attendees at the event included officials, merchants and members of Scarborough's diverse community. Scarborough forms the eastern part of the City of Toronto in Ontario, Canada.
