On October 3, 2007, the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Thailand commended Soka Gakkai Thailand (SGT) in recognition of their longstanding contributions to cultural enhancement. At the conferral ceremony held in Bangkok, Deputy Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat read the citation and Culture Minister Khunying Khaisri Sriaroon presented a plaque and pin to SGT General Director Somkiat Limrossukon. Minister Khaisri expressed her deepest appreciation to SGT members for their continuous support of Culture Ministry-sponsored events, and for advancing activities that enrich Thai society. She said she looked forward to SGT's future cultural undertakings.

To date, SGT's achievements include collaborating with the Thai Ministry of Culture to sponsor a recital of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's original compositions, national tours of "Dialogue with Nature," an exhibition of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's photographs, "The Lotus Sutra Manuscripts--The World's Spiritual Heritage" exhibition and the "World Boys and Girls Art Exhibition."

SGT General Director Somkiat expressed his appreciation for the recognition and thanked the SGT members for their continuous efforts to contribute to the cultural enrichment and prosperity of their local communities and Thai society at large.
