On June 17, 2007, SGI-New Zealand's Victorious March Brass Band collaborated with New Zealand's renowned Manukau City Concert Band for a concert at the SGI-New Zealand Culture Center in Auckland. Around 350 residents and local SGI members attended the fourth annual concert for Victorious March, now in its seventh year. The audience enjoyed the band's performance of John Phillip Sousa's "The Washington Post" and Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are," featuring singer-songwriter and SGI member Eli Guthenbeil. The Manukau City Concert Band played the theme song from the movie King Kong and other numbers. For the finale, both bands combined to perform the SGI song "Youth, Scale the Mountain of the 21st Century."

The Manukau City Concert Band, a non-profit group comprising some 40 musicians from a wide range of abilities, ages, and cultural backgrounds living in or around Manukau, is committed to enhancing music appreciation in the community. Winner in various local and national championships, at the North Island Festival 2006 Awards, the band won the "gold" award in both the Entertainment Program and Festival Program categories and the "silver" award in the Solo Performance category.
