Indonesian National Youth Council Visits Soka Gakkai Headquarters

On December 19, 2006, Hasanuddin Yusuf, president of the Indonesian National Youth Council (KNPI), the Republic of Indonesia's largest youth organization, and other KNPI officials visited the Seikyo Shimbun Press offices in Shinanomachi, Tokyo to meet with Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada, General Director Masaaki Masaki, Soka Gakkai International (SGI) General Director Yoshitaka Ohba and Youth Division representatives.

The Indonesian National Youth Council has a membership of some 90 million youths in Indonesia. Its activities aim to foster people who can make contributions to society and promote international friendship exchanges.

Mr. Harada expressed his view that friendship exchanges with KNPI youth are deeply significant, not only for Indonesia and Japan but for the Asia region and the world. He also conveyed a message from Mr. Ikeda extending his welcome to the youthful "ambassadors" from Indonesia as well as his appreciation for their assistance and cooperation on the photo exhibition "Dialogue with Nature" held in Indonesia. Mr. Hasanuddin expressed his hopes that friendship between the Indonesian council and the SGI would long endure. During their meeting, Mr. Hasanuddin presented a plaque of appreciation to SGI President Daisaku Ikeda in recognition of the SGI's activities and support that promote the growth and development of young people. KNPI officials attending included Hans Havlino M. Silalahi, deputy president for Foreign Affairs; Sayed M. Muliady, deputy president for Internal Affairs; Hamka Hendra Noer, deputy president for Education Affairs; Boston, deputy secretary general; and Muzaenah Zein, deputy secretary general for Cultural Affairs.
