SGI-Brazil Fife-and-Drum Corps and Brass Bands Participate in Independence Day Parades

SGI-Brazil's young men's Taiyo (Sun) Brass Bands and young women's Nova Era (New Era) Fife-and-Drum Corps participated in 20 Independence Day events throughout the country on September 7 in the cities of Riberão Preto, Belem, Manaus, Salvador and Belo Horizonte, among others. At the attraction held at the Samba Stadium in São Paulo, some 30,000 residents, including Governor Claudio Lembo, enjoyed the SGI-Brazil music bands' performance of "In the Stone." The Nova Era Fife-and-Drums Corps has been invited to participate in next year's event in Brasilia. Correio Brasilieuse, a local newspaper, reported that the youth of the SGI, "an NGO advancing peace," participated in this year's national day parades and have expressed a desire to also participate next year.
