Singapore Soka Association Participates in 41st National Day Celebrations

On August 9, 2006, some 1,300 Singapore Soka Association (SSA) representatives participated in Singapore's 41st National Day extravaganza at the National Stadium. Singapore's top government officials, including President S. R. Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, joined 60,000 residents at the main event. Some 1,200 SSA men and young men created dynamic gymnastic formations across the field. SSA women and young women combined with Singapore People's Association members in a cultural show, performing an elegant ethnic dance. Brigadier-General Goh Kee Nguan, chair of the 2006 National Day Parade Executive Committee, expressed admiration for the SSA participants' performance, which he said was moving and enlightening. All of Singapore's television networks aired the live event, including via the Internet.

SSA has participated in the National Day celebrations since the government's first invitation in 1981. This is SSA's 21st appearance.
