Special Thai Photography Exhibition Commemorates His Majesty the King of Thailand's Reign

On June 1, "Light-Shadow, Under His Majesty the King of Thailand's Reign: the Thai Tradition," a special photography exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary celebrations of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's accession to the throne, opens at the Soka Gakkai Toda Peace Memorial Hall in Yokohama, Tokyo. The exhibition, which also commemorates the 120th anniversary of Thai-Japan bilateral relations, comprises selected photographs from a National Photographic Contest held in Thailand that express the heart of the "country of gentle smiles."

The exhibition also showed at the Siam Discovery Center in Bangkok, Thailand, in August 2005. The Yokohama exhibition, sponsored by the Thai Ministry of Culture, the Thai Photographers Association and Thai Soka Gakkai, was introduced in Thairath, a leading Thai newspaper. His Majesty King Bhumibol and SGI President Daisaku Ikeda have met on several occasions to discuss strengthening Cultural Activitiess between their two countries.

[The special Thai exhibition shows through June 11; times are from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every day. On June 1, the exhibition begins at 12 noon. Admission is free.]
