Soka Gakkai Representatives Visit Indonesia's Vice President Jusuf Kalla

On January 25, Soka Gakkai representatives, led by Soka Gakkai President Einosuke Akiya and Soka University President Masami Wakae, paid a courtesy call on Indonesia's Vice President Jusuf Kalla, who is in Japan as an official state guest, at a hotel in Tokyo. President Akiya conveyed SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's message and extended a warm welcome. Vice President Kalla expressed his belief that his responsibility is to continue dialogues for building peace and harmony among diverse religions and races, and to overcome poverty and social inequality. They discussed developing cultural and educational exchanges between Indonesia and Japan and the importance of fostering youth. On the same occasion, Soka University conferred its award of highest honor upon Vice President Kalla, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to peace and education through dialogue.
