SGI-Panama Holds Peace Festival

On March 14, SGI-Panama members from across the country gathered for a peace festival at the SGI-Panama culture center in Panama City. The theme of the festival was "Youth United for Peace," and it consisted of musical, theatrical and dance performances by SGI-Panama youth. Guest performers included Victor Jaramillo accompanied by the "Sociedad Anónima" orchestra, rock group La Tribu,singer Priscilla Moreno and violinist Graciela Núñez. There was also a display of information on nuclear abolition, sustainability and peace. The display emphasized that peace is something close at hand that is created by cultivating bonds of friendship and the inner transformation of each individual. ... read more

On March 10, as part of the SGI-Italy anti-nuclear weapons campaign Senzatomica, the multimedia exhibition "From a Culture of Violence to a Culture of Peace: Toward a World Free From Nuclear Weapons" opened at La Pelanda in central Rome, where it will be shown until April 26. On March 5, the Soka Cultural Association in France (ACSF) held the first lecture in a three-year series titled "Knowledge of Buddhism." On February 13, SGI-Mexico youth members in Mexico City organized a seminar on the theme of “Love and Friendship” at the SGI-Mexico culture center. A panel of four youth members presented Buddhist perspectives on this theme, stressing that both love and friendship are based on profound connections between people.
