On May 27, SGI-Philippines youth members presented donated English books, notepads and school supplies to Paaralang Pantao (School for Humanity) located at the foot of a massive garbage dump in Payatas, Quezon City, Metro Manila. The school provides free education for children who live in extreme poverty in Patayas and scavenge the dump for their livelihood.

SGI-Philippines members donated books, notepads, pencils, crayons, erasers and color pens. The notebooks will be used for practice by students learning to write, and all students were given packs containing a notepad and various writing implements.

At the presentation ceremony students performed songs and Leticia B. Reyes, principal and founder of Paaralang Pantao, shared some of the struggles and challenges she faced in establishing the school more than 20 years ago. The school has some 150 students aged between 4 and 6 years old.
