On January 12, SGI-Macau, together with the Chinese Educators Association of Macau and Guangxi Arts Institute of Nanning, China, cosponsored a student art exchange. The event was also supported by the Macau Artist Society, the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) and Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI), among others.
In total, 25 students from Guangxi Arts Institute and 73 students from 19 junior and senior high schools in Macau got together to sketch and paint atop the Guia Lighthouse, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the historic center of Macau.
Later the same day, an award ceremony for the students' work was held at MPI and attended by distinguished guests, including Dean Qin Jihong of the Department of Student Affairs of the Guangxi Arts Institute and DSEJ Director Leong Lai.
In his talk, Mr. Qin emphasized the value of cultural exchanges in developing youth. Ms. Leong spoke about how a shared appreciation of nature and beauty can bring people together and reiterated the importance of the Guangxi-Macau student exchange in helping to promote art education and culture.
