Humanitarian Activities

SGI has a long tradition of providing relief and assistance following natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies such as earthquakes and floods while local SGI community centers often provide shelter to displaced people. After the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China and cyclone in Myanmar, SGI organizations made substantial donation in support of relief efforts. SGI groups also join fundraising events and other activities aimed at supporting the vulnerable in society.
