| Soka Renaissance Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps and Soka Gran Esperanza Flag Corps Win National Contest |
On December 16, 2007, five Soka Gakkai drum and bugle corps participated in the 35th national All-Japan Marching Band and Baton Twirling Contest, sponsored by Japan Marching Band & Baton Twirling Association (JMBA) at the Saitama Super Arena. The Soka Renaissance Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps won the Prime Minister's Cup (top honors) in the general marching band category for the ninth time, while the Fuji Fife and Drum Corps' Soka Gran Esperanza Flag Corps won the gold award in the color guard category for the fourth consecutive year. Other Soka Gakkai drum and bugle corps that participated in the competition were: the Soka Chubu First Stars, the Soka Wakayama Blue Eagles and the Soka Kagoshima Southern Blade.
