SGI-Hong Kong Cosponsors Exhibition of Works by Zhejiang Province Artists
On June 1, 2007, an exhibition featuring 80 paintings of landscapes, flowers and birds by master painters of Zhejiang Province, China, opened at the SGI-Hong Kong Culture Center. The event was cosponsored by the Zhejiang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Zhejiang Provincial Federation of Literature and Art and SGI-Hong Kong. Some 300 guests attended the opening ceremony, including Li Gang, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong. Following a welcome by SGI-Hong Kong General Director Lee Kong Sau, internationally acclaimed writer Jin Yong offered his congratulations and shared his thoughts on value creation and the cultivation of art. Dr. Peter Wong King-keung, vice chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, lauded the exhibition and hoped that it would afford citizens the opportunity to deepen their appreciation of China's traditional culture and art. He also stated that the tenth anniversary of Hong Kong's reversion to China was an opportune time to hold the exhibition.
