SGI-Canada youth in Toronto express their passion through exuberant hip-hop dances and band performances |
In April and May, SGI-Canada is sponsoring local youth music events throughout the country. On May 1 in Toronto, some 1,700 gathered for a youth culture festival at the John Bassett Theatre. Eight local cultural organizations joined in the celebrations and presented ballet and music performances. Marc Kielburger, executive director of Free the Children, an international network of children helping children, was guest speaker. On April 8, "Seeds of Change: The Earth Charter and Human Potential," an exhibit highlighting the Earth Charter as a "map" pointing the way toward sustainable living and environmental preservation, showed in Montreal, together with a lecture on environmental issues. In Ottawa, a peace concert was held on April 22.
