Hamburg Ballet Begins Japan Tour at Min-On's Invitation
On January 27, the Hamburg Ballet, led by world-renowned choreographer John Neumeier, performed at Kanagawa Kenmin Hall in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, at the invitation of the Min-On Concert Association (Min-On). Mr. Neumeier, who has been director and chief choreographer of the Hamburg Ballet since 1973, has produced over 100 works. Under Mr. Neumeier's direction, the Hamburg Ballet became one of Germany's and the world's leading ballet companies. The program includes "Sleeping Beauty," "Nijinsky" and "Winterreise," all of which are being performed for the first time in Japan. The group will perform at 12 venues in seven prefectures, through February 20, 2005.
