| SGI-Brazil Members Gather Throughout January to Celebrate SGI Day |
On January 26, 2008, some 1,500 SGI-Brazil (BSGI) members met at two venues in the São Paulo metropolitan area to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the SGI's founding (January 26, 1975). BSGI's Ikeda Philharmonic Orchestra of Humanism performed during the meeting at the BSGI Culture Center in São Paulo.

At the same venue, BSGI young women's Nova Era (New Age) Fife-and-Drum Corps members gathered on January 21 to celebrate the corps' 45th anniversary, while BSGI youth held a national leaders training course on January 19-20. On January 13, BSGI future division representatives, comprising young people from elementary school through high school, gathered to study a portion of Nichiren's writings in five languages. BSGI men held a study session on January 19 at BSGI Nature and Culture Center, located in the São Paulo environs.
