SGI-Portugal Holds Leadership Training Course

SGI-Portugal Young Women's Leader
On October 7, 2007, SGI-Portugal held a leaders' training session at Independence Palace in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Joana Craveiro was announced as the new national young women's leader. Ms. Craveiro gave a presentation on SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's lectures on "On Attaining Enlightenment in This Lifetime." This was followed by personal experiences of overcoming obstacles and achieving goals with the practice of Nichiren Buddhism by Chapter Leader Stephan Juergens, Vice Young Women's Leader Ana Calha and District Young Women's Leader Anabela Vieira. Young Men's Leader Mario Barba Sanchez reported on the September SGI Youth Training Course in Japan. Youth Leader Etsuko Motoki encouraged everyone to engage in heartfelt dialogue to spread understanding of the SGI's activities and the humanistic philosophy of Buddhism in preparation for the SGI-Europe youth meeting in Italy in March 2008. Headquarters Leader Sueji Naohara attended and gave final words.
