SGI Fiji Island Members Gather Family-style
On August 19, SGI members of the Republic of the Fiji Islands met in Lautoka, the second largest city, for a family-style district general meeting of 80 members and guests. This was the group's second general meeting following their first last year. New men's division member Nirmao Singh and women's division member Minu Monica Devi shared how they used the philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism to challenge and overcome difficulties in daily life. New Zealand Vice Youth Division Leader Camilla Browne, who traveled from New Zealand, spoke about the significance of prayer in Buddhism. SGI-Oceania Chair Richard Sasaki responded to impromptu questions. He encouraged each participant to achieve happiness and fulfillment through their Buddhist practice of developing their own lives while caring for others. District leader Christopher Bull called on everyone to advance with appreciation for learning about Nichiren Buddhism on Fiji and to put their faith into practice.
