SGI-Venezuela Holds Youth Festivals; SGI-Chile Launches Fresh Start
Folk dancers perform at a venue on Margarita Island
In October, over 5,000 SGI-Venezuela youth members gathered for festivals at 13 venues throughout Venezuela. Local orchestras, folk dance groups and musical bands also performed. Based on a theme of "Expanding a Network of Friendship for Humanity's Happiness," participants presented lively performances. On the occasion, SGI-Venezuela presented "Peacebuilders" awards to youth representatives who have contributed to peace in various ways in their local communities.

SGI-Chile held its fifth general meeting on November 20 at the SGI-Chile Culture Center in Santiago. SGI Vice President Carlos K. Shima introduced newly appointed leaders: SGI-Chile General Director Fumio Imai and Young Women's Division (YWD) Chief Sonnia Carolina Esparza Pozo. Former General Director Yoshimasa Chinen is now an advisor. Mr. Imai called on everyone to advance with unity based on "many in body and one in mind," toward next year, the 30th anniversary of SGI-Chile's founding.
