Hans van der Bent, former general director, is now senior advisor. Kyoko Iyama, former women's leader, is now senior women's advisor. Newly appointed General Director Johns vowed to protect and foster youth, work for a peaceful society, and develop friendships through sincere prayer and actions. The group studied Nichiren's writing, "Many in Body, One in Mind," from The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin. SGI-Oceania Chair Richard Sasaki congratulated the participants for their fresh start and asked them to initiate efforts to inspire members with hope and courage while creating a solidarity founded on the spirit of "many in body, one in mind," with respect for diversity and hearts that are united toward the common goal of humanity's peace and happiness.
