West Chester Township, Ohio, USA, Dedicates Toda Friendship Circle in Voice of America Park
West Chester Township, Ohio, USA, dedicated Toda Friendship Circle, in honor of second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda, around the Daisaku Ikeda Tree Grove in the Voice of America Park, West Chester. The dedication ceremony took place on May 21. Some 100 attended, including Township Mayor José Alvarez, SGI-USA representatives and local residents. Toda Friendship Circle was created in appreciation for the SGI's donation of 100 trees to be planted each year for the next ten years at the Voice of America Park and in recognition of Josei Toda's work to create peace and help rebuild his country during post-war Japan. His effort corresponded with the mission of the Voice of America to share the ideas of freedom beyond cultural boundaries. Mayor Alvarez presented a certificate to an SGI-USA representative, who received it in proxy. At the ceremony, local SGI-USA members in South Ohio performed music, songs and dances.
